Because Substack arrives by email. Having taught digital Journalism and researching rather profoundly i Delved into the more obscure aspects of reader behavior, I found that along with others, that many many people do not read their emails yeyond. the first 15 or 20 in their in box and peruse them at different times of the day. It’s not an ego trip. It’s a necessity because of the way people look at email. You are probably an assiduous reader and look at everything. Or look to see what you have in your inbox at least. But the fact remains that most people only look at certain chunks of their inbox at certain times of the day and don’t catch a lot. That is in there. I understand your implied irritation because it also irritates me. But you are the first person to note that to me, which is a good sign because I could see on the back end of Substack when and who are opening the links and you would be quite surprised to see who starts reading at one in the morning, but only goes back a few hours in there inbox. I would tell you that I am seeking alternatives to that practice, but the data is the data as they say. I appreciate your remark and I am not at all offended because as I said, I am also irritated by this necessity. Thanks much.
I replied to you, Ken, but I realized that my reply was posted as a regular comment. You will find it easy enough, but it will not be under your reply box. It’ll just be a comment probably either above or below yours. If you have trouble finding it, let me know and I will send it to you directly, but it’s a good and honest question That does not offend me in the least and I hope I have given you a rational explanation for the triple posting. Let me know what you think.
Marc, what a thoughtful, hopeful and equally frightening piece. You are incredible.
Tnx. It’s splooky
That's like spooky when sober.
