Marc, as you know, I'm a "gun nut", and, while I have no desire to see him prosecuted, I think it's unfortunate that Anthony Fauci was not booted out of the position from which he is finally resigning this month more than three decades ago when he was complicit in botching the federal government's response to AIDS. Nevertheless my distaste for super-wealthy narcissistic flimflam men has immunized me from being recruited to the axis-of-evil coaltion of Musk fans that apparently has now taken shape as the big danger in what I think remains your lop-sided assessment of the very real threat to liberty, free thought and self-govermment. Bari Weiss, Matt Taibi and Glenn Greenwald may all be somewhat off-base (or worse), but your ad hominem attacks on them hardly bolster your argument. IMO with all of their faults, these three are at least not blind, as you appear to be, to the massive threat of an Americanized version of Chinese-style "soft totalitarianism" that has been gathering steam for decades now, piloted by a crew of onetime liberal pols, bureaucrats, educators and other professionals united in pushing a seamless false narrative, shaming into silence anyone who dissents and slandering masses of ordinary, benighted and confused people who have been bamboozled by right-wing Pied Pipers, largely because their everyday experience has made them completely distrust, if not outright abhor, the ruling establishment.
