I'm in Colorado from L.A. helping a family member. Called a plumber today, nice guy comes out has a big "dont tread on me" tattoo on one arm, and a 1776 tattoo on his other arm kind of covered by his sleeve. Small talk ensues, this guy goes off on "the illegals", and has talked about 4-5 conspiracy theory's. I had to bow out after his first theory, left him talking to my mom who has dementia. He didn't stop for about 30 min until his work was done. If he mentioned peoples pets disappearing I would have thrown him out on his monkey wrench These trumpers must be defeated.
I was flying home last nite and in Dallas I had about a 10 minute conversation with a 30 something legal Egyptian immigrant who works in the airport. He told me he was a Coptic Christian and he was voting for Trump because Trump is...ready for this...a very good Christian and someone who really wants to keep families together and traditional. It's important to understand that the finer or even the larger points of data used in argument falls on millions of ears that are closed and only open to their own irrational feelings. ignorance and God knows what else. BTW just now saw a special Oregon vanity license plate with the same DonT Tread on Me graphic. I had to laugh, that bozo had to pay an extra $100 to "the deep state" to acquire his rebel plate. Morons is too nice of a word.
I can't help thinking of the New York times front page photo with Jill Stein at Vladimir Putin's 70th birthday party. but I guess that doesn't bother the purists of the Far Left.
Indeed. If there was a real drive to build a third party, given our system, it would have to be localized. In fact there have been Greens elected to city councils in a few west coast college towns and....? Nothing else. And nothing came of it. The Greens are not a real party. They are closer to a cult around Jill Stein who spends all of her time organizing only her tweets in which she consistently tells you how evil if you are if u fall for the Democrat bs. Cornel West, who I used to know, is no longer the same person of 15 years ago. He's an embittered crank whp when "independent" because he was pissed that Obama didnt include him in his admin. Maybe Trump will if the POS wins, especially if he does so aided by 3rd party voters. I do not consider Stein or West as allies. Quite the contrary.
Do you have an opinion on voters who choose alternative parties in states where there isn't likely to be a challenge for either democrats or republicans?
I live in NY. elise stefanik is my Congressional representative though I've never voted for her. NY always votes blue for presidential candidates, and has kept Schumer and Gillibrand through several terms, but big swaths of the state are rural and White, and kept stefanik in office against varying degrees of opposition. The governor is a Democrat but has a republican House, I think. So I get the need for voting dem down ballot, in midterms, in state and local elections, because maga extremism also funnels down. But your article addressed the problem of Harris losing votes to stein/alt candidates in swing states to anti-maga Americans who nevertheless insist on their own type of intransigent fundamentalism in regard to the Israel-Palestine-Middle East conflict.
I was asking because I hear several Gen Z "kids" expressing the exact, unyielding, uncompromising, and frankly, unnuanced and uninformed sentiment that they'd rather vote for Jill Stein because Biden, and Harris by default, are genociders for allowing US dollars to go to Israeli military operations that are attacking Palestinians. I also consider it throwing away a vote but...it's highly improbable that that many people would impact NY going red for the presidency.
What state does not have a legislature that has seats other than Dems and Repubs? First of all, what's the point even in a blue state. You will NOT be building any new party, that for sure. In my POV Stein and West are NOT purer moral examples as they seem to not care if they elect Trump. I would not give them the sweat off my back let alone a vote even if I lived in a very blue state, as I do in WA. Also you must take very seriously which congressional reps and state reps you WORK FOR DONATE AND HELP ELECT. This is not fuck around time. This is get fucking serious time for the sake of coming generations. Vote with your head, not your heart.
