Also (from Heather Cox Richardson, 12/21): “Trump has been angling to get Florida governor Ron DeSantis to name his daughter-in-law Lara Trump to the Florida senatorship that will be vacated if Senator Marco Rubio becomes secretary of state, despite her lack of any previous experience in elected office. But that plan, too, seems to have gone awry.
Today, Lara Trump announced: “After an incredible amount of thought, contemplation, and encouragement from so many, I have decided to remove my name from consideration for the United States Senate.””
😄 Yeah, but then I started second-guessing, and thinking about the previous times when you got my hopes up....He he seems to have more lives than a cat; way more. On the other hand, he's declared Victory and gone home when many of his threats/promises have met a wall, pun intended.
Nice roundup. There does seem to be a cloud of ineptitude drifting over the incoming administration. Perhaps the MAGA coalition has too big an internal crack -- the unrich white boyz and the traditional neocon/country club Republicans.
I think this is consistent with the various analyses of Trump as a wannabe fascist, and contrary to the overly wrought uses of the f word in a self-serving manner by too many on the far left. What a way to end the week, thanks Mark. I'm sending it around in, well, a somewhat self-serving away to my own networks like this, revise as you wish:
Are you as worried as I am about a world with Trump as US President? Here is a hopeful analysis. After a week of thinking my own substack Speaking From the Heart could somehow magically change the world or at least my own mood, Marc Cooper presents by far the best account of the week's developments, including coining the term MUMP administration.
What is it with you and Steve Schmidt and others who keep referring to Germany's Alternative für Deutschland as the ADF? In either German or English it should be AFD (or AfD) or AFG. What the fuck is ADF supposed to be shorthand for? Alternative Deutschland für? Das funktioniert auf Deutsch nicht. Just to go along with you and Schmidt et al. I may start referring to the United States of America as ASU or UAS.
To me it looks like a fashion of test marketing the look of how fascist Trump would be. It's symbolic and he's using Musk like a paid actor. It would be the same in real world Trump, or it would be his attempt..over my dead body btw.
This is the first time I’ve felt even remotely optimistic about the future since the election. Thanks.

Are you not gonna take donations via PayPal any longer? You didn't list it. It's normally my preferred means.
Patpal is still worrking.
Cool, but you might want to list it with the other acceptable payment methods, so that everyone knows. You used to.
I am de emphasizing it. Im happy to have people use it but it makes book keeping very difficult.

Tnx Michael. Much appreciated.
Actually Tim Snyder coined the term Mumps and Mumpers.
Yes. And i acknowleded that in my first graph.

How about SUA?
