As for the substance of the issue, I would not oppose Democrats entering into a legitimate power-sharing arrangement with McCarthy and his allies. No evidence that is on the table, and any deal based on McCarthy’s promises, particularly under the current House rules, would be a sham.

I get the sense there are 10-15 Dems who might be willing to sit this one out and hence elect McCarthy IF he had not broken promises and gone to the press this weekend claiming that Dems had been the ones endangering a shutdown. And there’s that impeachment-inquiry-in-search-of-a-crime McCarthy ordered.

Your suggestion of Thomas as Speaker may not be far off. If Repubs. get into another extended deadlock, they might well opt for some unemployed right-wing icon--Bill O’Reilly?Ghost of Joe McCarthy--to wield the gavel.

Kind of feel for Kevin. How would you feel if your fate, not to mention some other appendage, were in Lauren Boebert’s hands?

This is especially true considering where her hands have recently been! Looks like Dems are gonna let him swing... hope so

Listening to the debate. Long line of backbenchers for McC telling Dems why they should let him swing. It’s over.

Speaking as a licensed Indiana insurance broker, I would say “one string short of a Buck Owens guitar” is a fair description of San Bernardino’s mediocreist.
