Sorry no zoom today but each week brings us new craziness. I agree with just about everything. A notable polling “fact” is that in most states where Dems have incumbent Senators, and I suspect in Congressional districts with incumbents, Biden has been running 8-10 points behind that incumbent. That may close some, but it won’t close entirely. Remember also that Dems have won special elections for offices throughout the nation in the last 18 months.
Dems are not trailing. Trump, for reasons we hate to think about, is winning. But our ideas are prevailing. People reject Republican government. They have seen what ineptitude and ideological craziness grips the Grand Old Party today.
I think Harris needs to wrap herself around the Democratic gubernatorial and congressional candidates. The Repubs are running more of the same. Kari Lake may not be the worst this time around. She/they need to be of one voice about the administration’s nuts and bolts successes, that Senators and Pete Buttigieg may be best to talk about. And of one voice about (1) Republican governmental failures under Trump’s “leadership”, (2) Trump’s past failures, including COVID, and (3) Trump’s declared intention, in Florida and Project 2025, to take over governmental operations, without further consultation with our people.
As I have said elsewhere, I think the two biggest clumps of voters up for grabs are young people and Republicans who don’t approve of Trump. A third group might be leftists/Dems who rejected Biden. I think this strategy is reasonably designed to attract those voters.
