It’a a bird! It’s a plane! No!!!! It’s Barack Obama! It’s his fault the DC memorial reflecting pool has turned into a stinking green swamp with its new $16m coat of blue paint flaking and peeling off.

Good job, Donnie! It’s not my fault, Trump said of his new swamp. It was “vandals” who created this mess as did Obama. Nothing is ever his fault. The 25 cent word “metaphor” has now been firmly staked back into the national lexicon. And properly so. The whole stinking mess is a physical iteration of the deep moral rot and corruption that has surrounded Trump not just since his entry into politics a a decade ago.

His personal life, his business life and his political life have all been rotten to the core from the beginning. An endless cavalcade of lying, cheating, deception, aggression, opportunism and failure after failure after failure. And more failure,

It took a massive majority of Americans more than a decade to figure it out but, Lordy, they have finally caught on. Elected primarily as a successful businessman, he is, in fact, a two bit hustler who had just enough smarts, ambition and shamelessness to enlist the NY trash tabloids as his booster rockets 30 or some years ago. And just as he was about to flame out completely, just when his very name was becoming a punch line, the suits at NBC stepped in and handed him 14 years of airtime to craft a false image as a national business genius. The network suits knew it was a total lie, but whenever have they ever cared about putting a silver coating on a pile of rusted pipes?

The stories of what NBC found in his office when they were starting up the show have long been forgotten, but they were already a metaphor for what was to come, It’s worth a Google search to resurrect them and recall what they saw in his office. Worn and frayed couches and scratched and wretched tables. Twenty-five years ago he was already a bona fide loser dwelling in a fantasy world of his own creation. His office was that of a third rate tin pan alley agent, not that of global tycoon.

Make what you will that Americans elected him —twice—but they have now found like every other associate or “partner” of his, that in the end he will screw them over. We all know why Trump’s approval rating on the economy has now hit a flat 30 per cent and still sinking. He knows Jack about macro economics beyond bargaining with mafia linked New York building contractors to get the cheapest materials possible. And the percentage of Americans who now want an immediate end to Trump’s Iran folly is over 70 percent,

With Trump as an international laughing stock among our former allies, the last standing world leader who took him seriously was the equally corrupt and pig-brained Benjamin Netanyahu. He actually thought he had pulled one over on the Mad Hatter when he convinced him — in about 3 minutes— that a few American bombs dropped on Tehran would turn the Iranian mullahs into the cute kidw from the Mickey Mouse Show and Bibi would then become the undisputed heavyweight brawler of the Middle East, annexing what is left of historic Palestine, tossing the 2 million Gazans into the Sinai, and formally pacting with the bloody autocrats in Saudi Arabia.

Trump was dumb enough to believe him. Netanyahu who has now been hung out to dry in Lebanon this week by Trump appears to be even dumber. What will he think a month from now when the US formally breaks with Israel, albeit for all the wrong reasons? Looks like the warm up act for the collapse of Trump will be the long overdue political Waterloo for Mr. Netanyahu.

Oh, yeah. what about the creep Veep. JD Vance, who let it leak like a sieve that he was opposed to the war, is now working with Trump’s repulsive son-in-law and Trump’s sometime golf partner to reach a peace deal with Iran. You know Iran, those guys who just won the inane war against them by the U.S.

While busy hawking his new book on his religious conversion, Vance is reporting back daily that great progress is being made in reaching a “deal” with the Mullahs. I don’t know what more Vance has to offer as Trump, anxious as hell to dig himself out of the Iranian sand, had alreafy flooded them with gifts while suddenly dressing up these religious fanatics as good guys who deserve ballistic missiles like everybody else in the world has —as Trump put it.

There is no real progress. And there will not be much anytime soon. So far the great Iranian concessions fall short of what the Obama team negotiated 15 years ago and that should have been left the fuck alone.

You gotta have some sympathy for Vance. Nobody can stand him. His new book has already been shredded by critics. And I guess it’s good he now claims to be a Catholic because over the next year Trump is planning to crucify him. Who but only a Martian would think that the Don would turn over the family crime enterprise to someone other than his son — certainly not to a garish chameleon who once claimed Trump would be America’s Hitler — an insult to the memory of the Fuhrer who at least knew how to build the autobahn.

Even MAGA Republicans suspect or actually know what’s really going on. The Iranians have got Trump on a yo-yo string and are not about to save his bacon (which they dob’t eat anyway).

A GOP senator has admitted that Iran is playing “rope-a-dope” with Donald Trump and simply running out the clock until the president gets pushed out of office.

The astonishing insult, calling Trump a “dope” was even made on Fox News. As negotiations over Trump’s Iran peace framework drag on, Sen. Tim Sheehy acknowledged on Monday that Tehran is doing exactly what many of Trump’s critics—and some of his allies—fear: buying time.

“What we’re seeing now is the rope-a-dope they usually perform, which is buy time and try to lead us along until hopefully President Trump and his team’s out of office,” the former Navy SEAL said in an interview Monday on Fox & Friends.

“So hopefully this [round of talks] is successful, but we have to remind ourselves we are dealing with a regime that will not negotiate in good faith.”

“They don’t want the Straits to be open. They want you and your family and all of us to be killed. They want to wipe our civilization off the map—that’s their national motto. Nothing’s changed,” he added.

Okay, yes, there’s good dose of MAGA hyperbole in the Senator’s statement but there is also a lot of truth. There are no midterms skedded for Iran while MAGA must face them in in a few month. And with the president 20 leagues under the waterline and with his name missing from the ballot, he’s about to become a very lame, if not a politically dead duck. The Mullahs have plenty of running room to wait things out and see if an incoming Democratic regime might be a tad more reasonable to deal with. They are in no hurry to helpTrump who threatened them with genocide.

And what about the rest of us? We are in a tough place. No reason to continue foreseeing doom. Trump is weaker by the moment. MAGA has fractured like a bowling ball dropped on the sidewalk from the top of Trump Tower. The Republicans are headed for an ass kicking in November, if not an extinction event. The word is even out that next week the Supremes are ready to slap Trump with two monumental legal defeats. His immigration policy along with the the Waffen-Ice has contributed more to a growing sympathy with immigrants than it has spurred the always latent American xenophobia. On the other hand, after the elections, the deeply demenred President will linger for another two years with full executive power. After the midterms he will emerge as more maniacal and unpredictable and therefore dangerous. Then we will be confronted by the melodrama that the elections are rigged. This is no time to declare we are either in danger of a coup or that we are out of the woods.

There is good reason to believe that better times are coming soon while at the same time keeping our powder dry while still building a robust democratic and just coalition that is ready to not only to confront Trump but also capable of thinking past him and MAGA and a better America we should already be working on.

It’s not an easy task. We have entered a new transitional period without question. We are leaving the era of Trump and MAGA but exactly what period we are entering is something we also have to start crafting. The shroud of absolute pessimism should be behind us. +++
