Coop Scoop: Special Conference on Russian Poltical Prisoner Kagarlitsky
Russia's Leading Leftist Intellectual
October 6 2024
By Marc Cooper
Boris Kagarlitsky is the most eloquent voice on a persecuted Russian Left. He is of course ignored by American deluded “tankies” immersed in Russophile bullshit. He was jailed during the course of the invasion of sovereign Ukraine and is in constant danger of torture and death and an extended prison term.
He is in jail because he adamantly opposed the Russian invasion — a not so subtle reminder that SERIOUS political and peace activists are willing to take extreme risks that are greater than not get videoed by ur pal at the demo with an iPhone.
Please join the online facebook conference supporting him. It’s important.
The conference will be excellent and is set for this Tuesday October 8 and you MUST register here and you will be able to see the entire impressive program of speakers. And it is impressive. Any funds raised will be used in support of political prisoners held by one of the world’s top dictatorial/Christian Ntionalist and primary funder of European neo-fascism, the despicable Vladimir Putin.
Here is the letter Boris is sending to the conference:
"To be honest, when I heard about the conference dedicated to me, I was both happy and a little scared: usually such conferences are organised in honour of people who have already died. Fortunately, nowadays you don't have to die, you just have to go to prison. The difference is that when you die you don't come back, but I do hope to come back from prison. I have big plans. We all have big plans.
We're going through another period of crisis. And although the revolutionaries, from socialists to anarchists, who threatened to destroy the old world have not succeeded, the old world itself is crumbling before our eyes under the weight of its own contradictions. But to deal with the systemic crisis, we need a revolutionary imagination that allows us to go beyond the generally accepted recipes, to risk thinking in new ways without fear of being accused of radicalism. We are too poor to buy cheap,' says the conventional wisdom. The current situation is too serious to afford moderation.
Radicalism is not irresponsible. On the contrary, it demands intellectual and political responsibility for one's words and thoughts, for they must be translated into deeds and actions. Let us learn to speak honestly about our problems and stop being afraid of ourselves, our imagination and our ideals. All this must work.
In the meantime, I sincerely thank everyone involved in the campaign for my release, everyone who has shown solidarity and faith in the success of the common cause. There is still much work to do. We will do it together - in Russia, in Europe, everywhere. See you!"
The election in the US is of paramount importance. So is stopping the repression by Russia’s dictator and Trump BFF.
Let me add this: if you have been as put off by the political ”tankies” on the American Left who claim the “incursion” into Ukraine was some sort of self defense move provoked by NATO and do not admit Russia’s imperial aims, this is an excellent way to show that these muddleheads do NOT speak for us! We oppose aggression and imperialism no matter what its source.
