Now that this page is open, a few words about the campaign. As of this moment I have no qualms in saying that the Trump campaign is losing and is on its way to a dramatic defeat. Trump is on the slow train to obscurity. He will never go to prison, but if he lives long enough he will roam the halls of Mar-A-Lago with his ankle bracelet blinking and as Steve Schmidt calls him, President Norma Desmond will stop at the few dingy tables still there and regale his equally ancient and demented members about how he once ruled the world and will soon do so again. Man, shark, battery, camera..

As I said the other day, there’s aways a tension in Trumpland between Fascism and Buffoonery. You never know which aspect will shine on a given week or day. These past weeks it has definitely been the lattter, the Impaired And Insane Clown Show, with a guest appearance from America’s Other Top Punch Line, Elon Musk.

Trump and his followers still represent a dire threat to American democracy. But that threat seems to be morphing in approach since Harris entered the race and dimmed the certainty among Trumpies that the Orange Turd would be once again on his throne. It seems clear that Trump cannot handle the thought of a defeat by a woman of color, something that is going to happen, and his team is prepping for an alternate strategy — alternate to actually winning the vote.

Insidiously, the Trump team and MAGA are lining up local county election officials who, when Harris wins, will refuse to certify the results. Period.

In Georgia, the election board that oversees those clerk is now blood red MAGA. And there is at least one county clerk and certainly many more, who is now on the record saying a Harris certification will never happen. No reason to panic….yet. But don’t shrug it off either.

If a county doesn’t certify, it’s possible that a state cannot. If that happens no candidate might not get 270 electoral votes. In that case, or in the case of unresolved state counting disputes, the election —by law— goes to the House or can be sent there if SCOTUS gets involved, which it will. The President of the United States then gets elected by 50 representatives, one from each state. Republicans control 26 out of 50. Dems 23. Get the drift? That was the Jan 6 strategy, thrown together by a cabal of dumbasses and it crashed and burned. Can it happen? Yes. What the American people will do when a losing candidate is seated by a grand total of 26 votes? Do we just go take a nap?

There’s a lot of talk out there now that Trump has a much more professional set of advisors and they will know what they are doing this time. Quite possibly, but hang on. Trump’s public behavior reflects his dismissal of his professional advice as he continues to shrink into buffoonery and ridicule while his campaign plane loses altitude. He can’t draw big crowds. His VP is a national laughing stock and his 5th rate social media platform loses tens of millions monthly. His hyped interview with Musk came of as a SNL skit. Not to mention his upcoming sentencing in the NY case next month. And there is open speculation in the Never Trump world that this is the point in the campaign where you can expect Trump to fire and replace his professional team of GOP dirt slingers and go instead with his unofficial JV team, consisting of the genius trio of Don Jr., Tucker Carlson and The Richest Asshole in the World — the Three Amigos who foisted the eyeliner VP on him.

So maybe Trump is not THAT crazy when he goes around shouting to his followers that he does not even need them to vote. I don’t think that’s a conscious part of the campaign strategy to just steal the election through the House or the proto fascist Supremes. It might just be Trump madly boasting he has so many votes already, he needs no more. But either way, it is now evident that MAGA will definitely stage a widespread anti-democratic attempt at blocking Harris’ victory using the deep state bureaucracy they denounce or the MAGA-infused Supreme Court. It will dwarf January 6.

As Trump becomes more cornered, more convinced of his coming loss, fearing the courts to where he will return, he will be very much like a vicious cornered predator. Within the bounds of his smoking collapse, he will be at his most dangerous. As will he his most deluded and armed supporters.

We have to be ready for this. I am not sure how. And obviously the primary task of suppressing any form of insurrection or fraud are the police and security forces….I hope. But we the citizens also have a responsibility to defend our vote and our democracy, I am not remotely suggesting we form armed self-defense groups. No. (check back if Trump wins and cancels elections).

I am musing out loud what kind of local-based organized and non-violent citizen actions can and should be taken to not only protect the voters, but the votes themselves, the counters, the poll workers and preventing the organized fraud that is clearly moving from Plan B to Plan A inside the Trump campaign.

Does anybody out there know what kind of efforts are being made NOW to mobilize the pro democracy coalition to protect the vote on November 5 through January 6?? We better come up with something soon. ++
