Coop Scoop: Election Night Pre-Wrap

Prepare for very ugly times.

Note: I have been up for more hours than I can count so this post is taken in part from my final post on fb. I will write a fresh complete analysis of what happened sometime Wednesday here on The Coop Scoop.

The winner will not be called until sometime early Weds morning. But the betting markets are offering 6 to 1 odds, though I think it is more like 8 to 1. If and I say if Trump doesn’t take PA in the next hours, Harris has a theoretical chance of winning if she takes the three Blue Wall states and the one Democratic electoral vote in Nebraska.

Yes there's still outstanding votes from the Blue Wall and if Harris wins all three and takes the one electoral vote in Nebraska she hits 270. But we won’t know till tomorrow morn about some of those states. Please note that the Senate is now MAGA that means if Harris squeaks by she will be unable to confirm a single federal judge, maybe even her cabinet,

And if Trump wins PA where he is ahead he might have the 270 electoral votes before dawn.

If tonight's trends hold, MAGA will control the White House, the Senate and the Supremes (and Trump will have Alito and Thomas retire so he can name two 40 year olds).

I think even if Harris wins (which seems difficult at this hour) we have to recognize that MAGA/GOP is no longer a political party but rather a growing militant social movement with vast working class support and . If the Dems do not hold the House you can expect a openly dictatorial regime led by a severely impaired and ignorant convicted criminal psychopath in alliance with ultra nationalists and oligarchs with Elon Musk in the role of Rasputin.

If Harris loses, and I am not defending her or trashing her, we are going to hear a lot about how she did this or didn't do that and that is way off the point. 80% of all voters say they made up their minds in September. The defeat is not about this or that candidate but owes to much much deeper dysfunction in our society and in the electorate which I will try to articulate in my deeper piece tomorrow.

We'll see in the morning but we should not be in denial and we need to prepare for what is going to be some very ugly times. My overall take on the election will appear sometime Wednesday.

Feeling despair is natural. But paralysis is not acceptable. If Trump wins we’ll have a genuine fight on our hands that is going to require commitment and sacrifice. The less we do, the more damage another Trump regime can wreak. You are allowed to sulk if he consolidates his win but then it’s to the barricades — for the moment in the poetic sense. For the moment.
