Taking a Pause During RNC

Maybe I'm traumatized from Night One of the Trump Fear And Amnesia RNC as well as by the thought that I have to watch the next three nights as well but I feel forced to take a very brief pause from the newsletter (just for a week or less). There's just too much to process so quickly AND intelligently. I prefer to let the dust settle and then AFTER the RNC try to make some sense of both conventions and the state of the play of the election. So next edition will be coming within a week and will continue into the final stretch.
I do want to take this opportunity to suggest some great background reading if you turn off your TV this week:
First and foremost I suggest and endorse the book It Was All A Lie by long-time and former Republican campaign operative Stuart Stevens who headed the McCain Campaign. Unlike many other current and former Republican Never Trumpers, Stevens' book is a heartfelt but in-depth mea culpa arguing that Trump is but the logical extension of the racism and cynicism of the GOP that dates back to the 1960's, A fabulous and well written book. I guarantee it. You can also hear it on Audible.

Meanwhile Trump is still running a full 10 points below Biden in national polls. And the TV ratings for Night One of the RNC was about 20-25% less than the DNC.
News comes today that two current ranking DHS officials plan to break with and denounce the admin but somewhat closer to the election.
