Make no mistake. We are witnessing the death spiral of the Era of Trump. If you saw him standing two days ago in front of St. John’s with his upside-down Bible and the shameless chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (who has zero command authority) vowing military repression, then you also witnessed the final act that will cost him re-election. From here till election day, it is going to be a continuing downward spiral for this miserable president who has finally did himself in.

The only thing that has surprised in these raucous days since the suffocation murder of George Floyd, is why in the hell did it take so long – three- and one-half years—for masses of Americans to take the streets and rebel against this hapless would-be dictator. I predicted the day Trump was elected that he would be his undoing and that fears of dictatorship were overblown.

It took somewhat longer than I expected for Trump to self-destruct and it took much longer than I expected for a significant number of Americans to mount an insurrection, peaceful or otherwise, against him, and yet here we are.
